India is considering new intermediary liability rules which may impact the use of end-to-end encryption. Learn more about these rules during a webinar from our Delhi Chapter, which has just started.

livestreamOn 24th December 2018 the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITy) published a draft - the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines [Amendment] Rules), 2018. Fresh obligations are proposed for 'intermediaries' - defined as platforms with 5m+ users - including backdoors, surveillance, and censorship. The rules are open to public comment until 15th January 2019.

On 10th January 10 2019 at 11:00 IST (05:30 UTC) the Internet Society India Delhi Chapter and CCAOI will host a webinar for ISOC Chapter leaders, select members, and other interested stakeholders, to clarify the rules plus the critical issues they raise.
