We have started to think about getting a liaison FROM the GAC  - we hadn’t all agreed on it yet, but I think it would be well received by the GAC and its Chair. We can pursue it now if there is an ALAC consensus to so do. Re a liaison TO the GAC – that seems highly unlikely at this time, and I would not advise pursuing it. Also, we have just put liaisons on a couple of other groups and I think we should spend more energy to consolidate those relationships before taking on new ones.  New relationships need a lot of nurturing before they can stand on their own.

We should also spend a lot more energy on developing some policy positions – do we have anything to say on the gTLD  proposals besides that the document was only in English so the vast majority of the At Large were not able to provide input?  Do we have input from the English speaking world? This is REALLY REALLY important.

Thank you Sébastienthe call for nominations  lists only those Liaisons that currently exist.

Though I agree we would be greatly benefited by a formal relationship with ALL the other ICANN constituencies, this is at this point in time, not the case…

This should however go onto the Agenda for the next ALAC meeting this month,  then and would I suspect require further discussion and work at LA (and perhaps well beyond) as it is not just ALAC wishing to have liaison  to formalise work being done,  it is the agreement(s)  regarding any  reciprocal arrangements that are required to be formally in place with the other constituency body, we would I believe need to engage at some length with the GAC first rather than try and suggest our willingness to formalise interaction via this forum...

Though I know that all of us attending the San Juan meeting where the informal briefing from a GAC representative was given, found that most useful and enlightening and indeed this recognised where so much could be gained by both parties if we do interact,  it was at that stage made clear then, that it was an informal process and indeed a courtesy not a  reciprocal one supported in any way by GAC .... So can we please ensure this is on our next Meeting Agenda so we may indeed look at how we might go about properly forwarding this excellent suggestion...

Hi,

We have some work done with GAC, I would like to ask if a position for GAC liaison could be add?

And in the same time to ask the GAC to have an ALAC liaison.

All the best
