Since Jon Zittrain was an ad hoc appointment, I was told the Oct. 24 deadline did not apply -- that what was needed was for me to write a brief on why I was proposing him, what his qualifications were and what I thought he should do, and that would be put up for some sort of vote. 
 
So, if this is not the case, please tell me, and I won't waste time writing the proposal that I could spend on other things.
 
If it is the case that the nomination remains actionable, then I will write the proposal before the end of the week (sorry, I know I said beginning of the week, but I've been busy) and will ask those who have contacted me privately about it being a good idea, to step forward publicly and say so.
