Some months ago Tom was in this forum himself, advancing the idea. There were many objections and concerns raised, and he had answers for none of them.

"We deserve it" is not (or at least no longer) sufficient grounds for getting a TLD.

I wasn't around for that. The concept of a community-based non-profit registry seems laudable. He is unapologetically and, I guess, understandably, a bit woolly on the details, but firm on the principle.
