Avri, exactly. No need for fuss. One more step: first they have to get "recognized" by the UN and its Statistics Division as a separate geographical entity. Now of course if they don't like what ISO gives them they can always start a war (or purchase) for the annexation of the Seychelles. Journalists need to make catchy headlines. It does not matter whether the supposed issue is irrelevant, at least for people who know how things work: the general audience might start believing that the country code is one of the biggest problems ever... R.

Roberto, actually it could be a good operation. In Gaelic Scotland is named Alba. ISO 3166 committee members could select ... ".aa". This would put them in the lead of the ccTLD list :-) jfc
