Well, remember this is a US corporation, so salaries goes in par with other salaries in the industry in the US (I suppose). I have no problem with people getting well paid. I have problem if there are no results. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Presidencia Internauta" <presidencia@internauta.org.ar> To: "At-Large Worldwide" <at-large@atlarge-lists.icann.org> Sent: Thursday, 26 February, 2009 8:34:01 AM (GMT+1200) Auto-Detected Subject: Re: [At-Large] ICANN PREGUNTAS This is unacceptable! they are the same ones who want to lower the costs of participation of Internet users in ICANN! is a joke ... Worth noting too here, is that not being well paid or suitably compensated in some cultures (certainly mine) would allow us to have greater concern that undue influence from gifts or inducements might occur, and we would require great levels of due diligence to assure us otherwise...
From my perspective, compensation & responsibility as well as transparency & accountability are all parts of the same desired weave of component parts that ICANN needs... Professional organisations have to be able to attract and retain suitably professional staff (as well as us volunteers) and this leads or at least should do (in my view) directly to outcomes and performance criteria being properly met.

ICANN is a non-profit tax exempt charity. I think it's fair to say that their salaries are pretty generous compared to other charities.
I have no problem with people getting well paid. I have problem if there are no results.
That, too. R's, John
