WEBCAST NOW: ICANN49 DNSSEC Workshop
DNSSEC is vital to the integrity of the Internet. It's an authentication system that allows users to know they are communicating with who they think they are, and defeats many phishing exploits, If you think it's boring, see the recent Guardian video <http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/feb/28/seven-people-keys-worldwide-internet-security-web>about the root zone KSK rollover. joly posted: "Want to learn about DNSSEC from people who have actually deployed DNSSEC in their region? Yes, it is important. And yet too many ICANN accredited registrars do not let people add DNSSEC information to their registrations. (I will have to move several of my names to another registrar because the one I've been using has been slow come up to DNSSEC speed.) In addition to nudging (or coercing) registrars to support DNSSEC information from customers, it would be useful if ICANN helped develop a more consistent user interface for the input and management of that DNSSEC related information. That would help avoid the current diversity of input methods that people have to face. --karl--

Yep this was a topic in the meeting. It was suggested that registries collude and agree standards, but that was shot down immediately as it might be construed as a trust-like activity, perhaps truth in jest. As I understand it registrars just pass on whatever system they get from the registry. (I will have to move several of my names to another registrar because

It was implied that, as increasing user awareness leads more to follow your example of ditching non-compliant providers, registrars will decide to come around. -- --------------------------------------------------------------- Joly MacFie 218 565 9365 Skype:punkcast WWWhatsup NYC - http://wwwhatsup.com http://pinstand.com - http://punkcast.com VP (Admin) - ISOC-NY - http://isoc-ny.org -------------------------------------------------------------- -
