Vittorio: Thanks for sharing. In regards to the agenda, let me raise the privacy flag.. comment on the issue of Data escrow. If ICANN will be acting as a data escrow agent, then has a privacy impact assessment been done ? I ask, as CANN will be bound by provisions of the US PATRIOT act. Which means that law enforcement in the US will have access to the information. If an impact assessment has been done, then said report should be shared with ALAC and other constituencies at ICANN. If an impact assessment has not been done, then - well, it should be. refs: Canada and the USA PATRIOT Act The Information & Privacy Commissioner for the Province of British Columbia, Canada, has just published an extensive report titled "Privacy and the USA Patriot Act - Implications for British Columbia Public Sector Outsourcing." http://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2004/12/canada_and_the.html http://www.oipc.bc.ca/sector_public/usa_patriot_act/pdfs/report/ privacy-final.pdf On 10-Aug-07, at 1:36 PM, Vittorio Bertola wrote:

The point is well taken - I actually made the same comment in San Juan. I'll raise it during the discussion and keep you posted. -- vb. Vittorio Bertola - vb [a] bertola.eu <-------- --------> finally with a new website at http://bertola.eu/ <--------
