German views on EU data privacy reform initiative
The German Data Commissioners just concluded their 83rd Conference. It appears they endorsed the intent of the EU proposals for data privacy reform with a few caveats. Several hot topics came up for discussion; ACTA, surveillance of telecommunications and law enforcement use of internet searches, including monitoring of social networks. They produced a few resolutions on matters of heightened concerns.
