Re: [At-Large] New gTLDs Working Group
I am not finding the information I need on the new gTLDs Working Group. (1) Who is the ALAC "Issue Coordinator" for this topic? (2) Is there a "task leader"? (3) Does the Working Group have a Chair? (4) What are the WG Terms of Reference? (5) What is the Working Group's project timeline? (6) Who are the Working Group members? (7) Have all the RALOs notified their members about this WG? (8) Has the WG Chair reached out to all 93 accredited ALSs asking for participation and input? (9) Where is the collection of background documents to review? (10) Where do we find relevant ALAC commentary on the topic? Is there an ALAC-generated Issues Report for public consumption? (11) What implementation issues are anticipated? (12) As the Staff implementation issues report is not due until January 2008, what will the WG do in the meantime? (13) Noting that Erick and Guru have volunteered to participate and that Hue has received several endorsements to presumably serve as "coordinator", at what point are we expecting coordination to actually start happening? Finally, you can probably apply all these questions (and more) to every WG that the ALAC has set up. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Get easy, one-click access to your favorites. Dear Danny, Thank you very much. All these questions need to be answered. I hope our current ALAC Chair can help give some feedback on it. (Or who's ever wish to help) I believe that other working group has been functioning well (like the IDNS for example) and Hong Xue can share some of her experience of how that WG did the job. Only this way a "volunter" like me can do something useful, given the fact that i am completedly new. No one who are ALAC want to be "useless". When i appoint myself to the GTLDs working group, i mean as a member, not as the issue coordinator or WG chair. I leanrt now that anyone from th Als can be participating in any WG. If the questions are given proper answer, an ALAC member can do either cooridinator or chair if get supported from the rest. Firstly let me apologise for not replying to list activity as promptly as I usually do I have not had connectivity whilst at a conference then a meeting from 2300 Sun night AEDST to 2000 hrs today AEDST... As all those on the ALAC who attended our ill fated (technologically speaking) ALAC Teleconference on the 20th would know some matters, on the Agenda (including finalisation of our appointments etc.,) were unable to be completed, and have therefore been moved to online finalisation. However one of the action items identified in our then absence of quorum after *some* of the call issues were rectified, regards the preparation of the complete list of all offers and appointments for formal finalisation, as soon as we (the ALAC)... Once we have this and have signed off on it (online) this list will be notified... I expect therefore that this will be finalised before 1200 UTC 23/11/07... ALAC please note this means your prompt replies and comments when the list IS distributed to the internal list for your review... And I echo the thoughts of Thu, and thank Danny for raising the questions below (which I see as a template set for use in most policy commentary areas for ad hoc working groups from now on) and particularly the point raised to Denise, on this list, regarding the new iteration, that the WG no doubt expects spending their most productive time on...
