FW: [ALAC] thank you all!
Dear friends, Thank you for sharing these last several years with me. Your fellowship has provided enrichment in many ways; technical, political, cultural. I can assure you that the struggles in which we have engaged continue. I am no less committed to them and will continue to engage. We have had some successes in setting up an at-large infrastructure that if properly sustained by us and the ICANN community in general can in fact deliver on the promise of an ICANN that is truly participatory and focused on the public and userŽs interest. Warmest regards Annette

Echoing what I mentioned in the open ALAC meeting yesterday, your hard work and tireless efforts to engage and recruit ALS from Europe and beyond and the development of RALOs could not have taken place without you. We would still be interim status if it were not for your vision and timeless volunteer hours. Thanks! On a personal note - I thank you for your advice, insight and friendship all these years. You have been a great friend and sincerely hope to stay in touch. You will be missed. kindest regards Robert
Thanks Annette for having done this road together in the front seats but don't be a stranger in the road ahead Toute connaissance est une réponse à une question On 6/11/2008, at 22:20, Annette Muehlberg <Annette.Muehlberg@web.de> wrote:

Dear Annette, You will be truly missed. I can't imagine an ICANN meeting without you. Thank you so much for all of your hard work. Oh, and thank you for helping me to swear better in German! ;) D ________________________________ From: at-large-bounces@atlarge-lists.icann.org on behalf of Annette Muehlberg Sent: Thu 11/6/2008 5:20 AM To: at-large@atlarge-lists.icann.org Subject: [At-Large] FW: [ALAC] thank you all! Like Annette, I am also leaving ALAC, and now leaving for the airport from the hotel. It's been a real experience. Ups and downs. For ALAC, it was five years. Interim, and then elected. Bringing the voices of the individual users to ICANN process is, as we all experience and witness, not an easy task for anyone. I am questioing myself - how much have I done? To some extent, with good result - now that all RALOs are in place, things are starting to work. BUT, I also share that there are a lot to be done. I appreciate all of your help and support and leadership and hard working, frank exchange, debate, thinkgs like that. The game is not over - not for me, not for ALAC. IT is just beginning. Hoping we can change --- more. As the shuttle to the airport is coming soon, I have to close my laptop. I will open it again asap, I will hopefully see you there in Mexico, and beyond. I miss ALAC, but not atlarge. I miss you guys, but not that much. all the best, izumi

I've been off the ALAC for a couple of years, but it was a privilege to work with both of you. See you on the net. Hmm, I thought we had made peace yesterday at dinner! No, really, we have been working together for years, and at times we fiercely disagreed on almost everything, but nonetheless it has been a pleasure, and very instructive; it's much better to work with people that disagree with you, than to work with people that don't care. So I'll eventually apologize for one of the most shameful things I did in my entire life - sending you an SMS just seconds after Italy eliminated Germany in the last World Cup. It happens, with football (the one actually played with the feet). But I'm sure that we'll still meet and act together in many Internet venues for a long time. Ciao, -- vb.
