Eliza,
Noting the need for diversity, perhaps we
should be then including the regions our current list of representatives come
from and how many meetings they have attended. This additional info would hopefully
assist the selectors.
Also, please add my name to the list, with
N.A. region and 40 meetings.
Thank you.

Ron,
According to the ICANN website,
“Each SO and AC is encouraged to send a list of volunteers taking into
account the need for diversity and not limited to the number of seats open.
This will allow the selectors (the CEO or his designee and the Chair of the WG)
to balance the various factors more easily.”
Hope this clarifies a bit.
Best,
Elisa

Thank you for reposting this list and
information Eliza.
Having attended 40 of ICANN's 45 meetings,
I am very interested in this issue.
I am wondering if other BC members share
my concern about this statement: As clearly noted in the ICANN
materials, the number of representatives per SO will be between 1 and 4, with
no guarantee of any specific number.? Who is making the determination
and why such a small number of representatives.
In a bottom up consensus driven
organization as ICANN, it seems that limiting such an important group will
lessen the number of ideas as well as the depth of discussion around what
future meetings look like. Moreover, an exclusionary
approach will undoubtedly minimize input of the most affected parties
-- the attendees. I think we can all agree that the growth
from meetings of 500-600 participants to those of upward of 1500 over the
course of this past decade is something that merits serious discussion.
What I don't understand is why and who is limiting these discussions to such a
small group of representatives. Working Groups are not limited, so why
would this group be?
Perhaps the BC could hold
some discussions on this topic across the CSG to maximize feedback to
whomever the CSG's participants are?
Thank you to those members who have
volunteered. It would be good to have all of you in those discussions, in
my view.
I welcome other member’s thoughts on
this.
Kind regards,
RA

Dear Benedetta,
Can you advise how much representation we
have in this Working Group from the BC? I am considering it, but
don’t need to jump in if the BC is already well-represented.
Thank you,
RA
