In Aug-2023 the BC commented on the public consultation on the powers in Relation to UK-related Domain Name Registries, thanks to drafting by Mason, Margie, and Marie.

Today, the UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) published the summary of responses to the consultation on powers in Relation to UK-related Domain Name Registries public consultation on the gov.uk website here.

Their updated outcome doc summarizes responses to consultation.   

Detail of outcome

The consultation asked respondents 17 open questions. For each of these questions, every response was reviewed, and while not every point that was made by each respondent can be reflected, responses were assessed to identify common themes.

For inclusion in the consultation analysis, participants had to have answered at least one of the 17 questions. These questions are listed on pages 16 -17 of this document. Responses were excluded from the consultation analysis if they did not meet this criteria.

We received 39 responses, from a range of organisations, including:

· registries and registrars

· trade and business associations

· charities and not for profit organisations

· consultancies

· commercial owners of domain names

· devolved administrations

· members of the public
