I recommend we reach out to local ICT associations and High Tech Groups. Their participation would no doubt enrich the discussion and our outreach agenda.

I absolutely agree with this approach as well. We should work with Chris to help him help us.

Count on me for this lunch or any other activity that involves discussing these topics.

Our approach has been to bring ICANN to the events and places were businesses are already present and/ or to organize events during the ICANN meeitngs with local together with leading organizations that can bring their members to an appealing ICANN event during the meeting. I think many of us share these views. And we have been quite successful with this kind of approach in the past.

I have worked with Chris for the Buenos Aires meeting. The webinar we have organized before the meeting was great.
When we showed leadership from the local organizations and expertise in organizing these type of events, he was absolutely open and collaborative and he listened and supported our efforts.

For the events during the meeting it was more complex, there were too many activities going on at the same time.
But I am sure that is possible to learn the lessons and improve.

We should focus in the concurrent points of our agendas and be able to leverage the opportunities.

G.

Elisa,

On the call today, you asked for opinions and guidance of where Chris Mondni should be going with the local Business Engagement events.

Most previous events have seen a very low turnout of local business leaders.
I appreciate it is difficult to organize remotely but we need attendance of 100+ to make this worthwhile to do outreach for ICANN, for the BC, and for ourselves.

The only way is via local business organizations such as Chamber of Commerce and get them on board and excited anout a meeting for their members  that ICANN funds.   It is an opportunity for their members to learn about ICANN and BC and meet us, the travelling business people in town.

I am member of a number of chambers, and I am thinking about it from the other side.  If it was properly and well advance promoted within the Chamber there would be a good turnout.   Perhaps that needs a Chamber committee member well on board.     If not and the invite is just emails and phone calls then the chamber might just send a few along as a courtesy.  I don’t know the organizational route to date but the outcome in the past has been the latter.

Again it may need a ICANN and/or BC member to make an advance visit to personally meet and present to the chamber committee and get them so on board.

Too late for Singapore but in time for London and LA.

Best
