Sharing the most recent letter from the GAC to ICANN. Highlights: GAC says its comments on new gTLD program are “intended to meet the overriding goal of ensuring that introduction of of new gTLDs is in the global public interest”. So the GAC expects ICANN to consider all of its input as ‘Advice’ per ICANN’s bylaws. GAC expects ICANN Board to explain its decisions taken, no later than 2 weeks before Cartagena. (citing Affirmation obligation) GAC anticipates that ICANN will respond to their last 3 letters and is expecting to discuss this in Cartagena.
