Very helpful, item number 2 in particular as the Council got itself tied into a knot on this point last year. I was intrigued by the notion of using a headhunter, too. It will, of course, cost money, but if ICANN is to bust out of its narrower history of choice, invitation and selection, it might just do the trick. I wonder, though, if an interim step might be considered. There are a (growing) number of companies and organizations that participate in ICANN right now. These entities have two perquisites. One, they are familiar with ICANN. Two, they have their own boards comprised of outside directors. I wonder if there is a way to partner with this group to recruit senior level executives from that pool of talent? It would be cool to tap into the executive reach of companies like AT&T or organizations like the United Way. Too crazy?
