INFORMATION: Draft GNSO Working Sessions & other GNSO related meetings schedule during ICANN Cartagena meetings/reminder: BC member call 11/11
Dear BC Members: The ExComm will meet tomorrow to discuss a number of items, including planning for Cartegena, discussions regarding the elections for Council chair and V.Chair; planning for the BC members call on 11/11; update on when the CSG Charter can be sent out for vote by the BC. Planning for Cartegena: In the meantime, for your information, I forward the current information regarding Sat/Sun schedules at the ICANN meeting in Cartegena. The BC EcComm will also discuss when the "House" may meet to discuss House issues, such as V.Chair of Council, Board election process for Board seat elected by the non contracted House. It is possible that there will be two House meetings: one Saturday with dial in and one possibly Monday, after everyone arrives at either an early time slot, or lunch time. Sarah and I will keep you informed of House gatherings/purpose of such discussions. Elections are the only presently agreed 'work items' within the House. We will also consider priority topics for the Cross Constituency breakfast for Tuesday, the CSG meeting Tuesday, and the BC meeting Tuesday p.m. On the BC call, 11/11, I will ask for member priorities for the various meetings. Those not able to attend the call can submit topics to the ExComm by email. in the meantime, please take note of the week end schedule of meetings. For members able to attend in person in Cartegena: I'd like to propose an informal Saturday night dinner for members in attendance then, [everyone self fund] but a good way to gather. No need to rsvp at this point, but let's mark our calendars to 'gather'. More information as we move toward Columbia... look forward to talking with members on 11/11 @ 10 a.m. EDT BC members call. ========================================================================================== Provided by the GNSO Secretariat: The draft schedule for the GNSO Working Sessions and other GNSO related meetings during the ICANN meetings in Cartagena is posted at http://gnso.icann.org/meetings/gnso-draft-agenda-cartagena-26oct10-en.pdf This schedule is likely to change, and we will keep you posted, but the link will also be updated regularly. Marilyn, Thank you for the update. Regarding our call on 11/11, I would like to see a discussion take place around who the BC - and larger CSG - would like to see as the new Chair of the GNSO. If I understand it correctly, Chuck's term is up at Cartegena and he will not be running again due to term limits. Olga Cavalli and Stephane van Gelder are the current Vice Chairs and Jeff Neuman will also be joining the Council, so those are three names that may or may not be intending to run for GNSO Chair. Do other members have any thoughts on potential Chairs? Thank you. Kind regards, RA Ronald N. Thanks, Ron, for your question. The BC ExComm had a discussion this morning about leadership of the Council -- Chair and V.Chair--and it is my intent to make that a part of our call on 11/11, as the primary non policy topic. The process that the Council has approved calls for each house to put forward one candidate endorsed by the House. The election of the Chair is presently scheduled to take place before the Cartegena meeting by ballot, with a complex process on how to deal with ties, or failure to reach a 60% majority. The elections of Vice Chairs is undertaken within each House. I will include a discussion on V.Chair in the upcoming BC Members call as well. Please remember you are asked to nominate priority topics as well for the breakfast with the Board in Cartegena and the CSG and BC meetings. You can send those off list or on list. If you sent off list, please include Chair Chaplow, who is helping with the planning of our BC program in Cartegena. Policy topics for 11/11 Members call:Steve has developed a priority list of policy topics for the rest of the call which he reviewed today. He is posting those to this list shortly. The call, again, for members calendaring purposes is 11/11, 10 a.m. EDT. See bridge posted separately to the bc private list. The call will be recorded and transcribed. 15 minutes on topics above/45 minutes on the policy issues in Steve's nominated list, or other topics that members add.
