Brussels -- BC Hotel Recommendation
Dear all, I just checked the Brussels meeting website to register and saw that the official hotel has yet to be posted. I have also heard a rumor that the ICANN staff/board have taken up all of the rooms in an undisclosed hotel and in speaking with the Brussels .EU team here, they advised that we select "any hotel near the central station". Andrew Mack suggested Le Meridien Hotel, and I just looked it up to find that it is, in fact, very close to the station, Grande Place and most importantly, Square Brussels Meeting Centre where the meeting will take place. Unless Philip has another recommendation, being that he is 'on the ground' in Brussels, I would suggest that we consider Le Meridien as the 'BC hotel' for the Brussels meeting. Kind regards, RA Ronald N. Andruff President RNA Partners, Inc. 220 Fifth Avenue New York, New York 10001 + 1 212 481 2820 ext. 11
The Square Meeting Centre is a refurbished venue in central Brussels on the Mont des Arts. It is very well served by many hotels in various price categories. In the top price category: Le Meridien (comfortable if a tad austere) A little further away but still an easy walk to the conference venue is a wonderful and pricy boutique hotel: Amigo And the Radisson SAS is fab and reasonable close. Very nearby is the 4 star but comfortable Royal Windsor Next door to the Meridien are three cheaper Hotels: Novotel Best Western Carrefour d L'europe Ibis Grande Place (Note there are other Ibis in Brussels). If these hotels book up then look at alternatives towards the centre (Grande Place / Bld Anspach) Avoid a postcode that is not 1000. The Brussels Hilton(s) are a bit far from the venue. The Sheraton and Crowne Plaza at Place Rogier are also a bit far. Philip PS Must see Tourist info will be provided nearer the date !

Philip-- How about the Marriott (Rue Auguste Orts 3-7/Grand Place) or the Renaissance (Rue du Parnasse 19)? -- both have rates that are substantially lower than the Meridien's lowest (which requires full advance payment, non-refundable for a low rate) and that incur no penalty for cancelation or date changes prior to date of reservation -- it appears from looking at the map that they are fairly close to the meeting venue, but I would like your feedback. I am at Le Meridien as well. I got a similar rate. Phil is right that it is pre-pay, but I prefer the close proximity. The Board and staff are likely to be in one of two hotels, the Le Meridien being one, and sorry, I can't remember the other, but it is very close by. The Marriott qualifies as "If these hotels book up then look at alternatives towards the centre (Grande Place / Bld Anspach) Avoid a postcode that is not 1000." Its a fine hotel and some 15 mins walk from the venue. The Renaissance is in the EU area and more than a walk away. ------------------------ Mikey re: what's not to like? - the bar actually. -------------------

Can you just confirm the right address for Le Meridien?I hear it is just across the street from the venue, so would be excellent to confirm we have the right hotel...I don't know that the board will be at this hotel, though, but still if it is more convenient to the venue, that is usually best for all of us with heavy work schedules and early meetings every day. There are two: one at airport and one in center of city. It is the latter one you want. :-) From: randruff@rnapartners.com To: bc-gnso@icann.org Subject: [bc-gnso] Brussels -- BC Hotel Recommendation Date: Fri, 12 Mar 2010 03:33:51 -0500 Dear all, I just checked the Brussels meeting website to register and saw that the official hotel has yet to be posted.
