CBUC, Will we have a CBUC meeting prior to Brussels? If so, can we go ahead and get this scheduled on everyone's calendar to ensure maximum participation? Thank you. B Berry Cobb Infinity Portals LLC berrycobb@infinityportals.com http://www.infinityportals.com 866.921.8891
After a quick discussion within the ExComm, I would propose that we hold two calls prior to the ICANN Brussels meeting:One call would focus on logistics, Charter high level discussion, outreach and agenda input.the second call will focus on gTLD policy activities. This will allow both updates and discussion but also for members to prioritize their interests. Plan for huddles on Sunday evening, probably continuing through the ICANN meeting for informal catch ups. Tuesday will be the regular constituency day, starting with the breakfast, then moving into a working CSG session [agenda is being drafted now for that meeting[, and then we will meet from 1:30-4:30 p.m. as a BC. The Excomm will present a draft agenda for discussion and enhancement by members on our upcoming call. I will be posting times to the BC-GNSO list early next week for both calls. HEAD COUNT IN MEANTIME: I would also like to gather a count of attendees for Brussels in the meantime. Can you post back to me separately to confirm that you are attending Brussels, and when you are arriving: ArrivingSatSunMonday Departing: This will allow us to plan around when we have the largest number of members present. Hi to all who are planning to be in Brussels for the ICANN meeting next month. I am in the process of making my air and hotel reservations, and I thought it would be useful to find out where other CBUC folks are planning to stay. If possible, could you share your hotel plans with those of us on the list? Are people stayimng at le Meredien or other hotels in the immediate 3-4 blocks around the venue? Thanks and see you at the meeting, Jim Baskin
Jim, you asked about hotels in Brussels. Here goes. A update of what I posted shortly after Kenya. ------------- The Square Meeting Centre is a refurbished venue in central Brussels on the Mont des Arts. It is very well served by many hotels in various price categories. In the top price category: Le Meridien (comfortable if a tad austere). This has been booked by some BC members but note there is construction directly outside (major new plaza/road works). A little further away but still an easy walk to the conference venue is a wonderful and pricy boutique hotel: Amigo And the Radisson SAS is fab and reasonable close. Very nearby is the 4 star but comfortable Royal Windsor Next door to the Meridien (but away from the roadworks) are three cheaper Hotels: Novotel Best Western Carrefour d L'europe Ibis Grande Place (Note there are other Ibis in Brussels). If these hotels book up then look at alternatives towards the centre (Grande Place / Bld Anspach) Avoid a postcode that is not 1000. The Brussels Hilton(s) are a bit far from the venue. The Sheraton and Crowne Plaza at Place Rogier are also a bit far. Philip
