marilyn 2:Chantelle can I check to see if I hav mike priveleges, and then I can go on mute.

marilyn 2:let me disonnect and dial back in.

  marilyn 2:you can dial me on 1 202 360 1196

Andrew Mack:Apologies all.  a little trouble getting logged in

  Chantelle Doerksen:Sure Marilyn, one moment

  Lawrence OlaWale-Roberts:can't hear Andrew properly

Andrew Mack:Lawrence, I'll take it off speaker

  Chantelle Doerksen:Thanks Andrew

marilyn:Can we confirm that we wanted Chris to speak about Digital friction, as a speaker, right?

marilyn:drawning from the Boston Working Group publications.

Chris Mondini:sounds great.  I can talk about e-friction as well as

  Chris Mondini:business engagement resources

  Chris Mondini:will make it interesting!

  Lawrence OlaWale-Roberts:the program is okay

marilyn:I support the program as it is.

  marilyn:Chris, sorry, I meant e-friction!

Lawrence OlaWale-Roberts:and the speakers lined out in the mail circulated this morning should cover for the program

Chantelle Doerksen 2:They can- they do. There are vendor forms the BC needs to complete, but I'll confirm

marilyn:It is very challenging for local business attendees to come in tht early, however, something to remember.

Chris Mondini:sounds like a good program!

marilyn:so, it might work for those on site who are attending but I have found that local folks have real problems coming in early. but let's see who is attending also on site for anything else during the week.

  Chris Mondini:understood

marilyn:And also thanks to Chris for agreeing to be a speaker!

  Chris Mondini:You're welcome!

Chris Mondini:OK I shall sign off for the rest of the call - ok?

  Lawrence OlaWale-Roberts:thanks Chris

Chantelle Doerksen 2:From Marilyn, here is the Internet Summit Agenda as it currently stands: https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__internetsummitafrica.org_agenda&d=DwIFaQ&c=FmY1u3PJp6wrcrwll3mSVzgfkbPSS6sJms7xcl4I5cM&r=wL3Zo2cS0E1587i1K6plo1c3_QE_VYKpzxK_zxU6nHchrvvSIST7VWCi3I7o_dqG&m=n6Seu2s5CeJERmAHdLk0yG-xs4PEYGGbDH6wGm_AOzQ&s=4d6bKhM5pmBuzzzMRjQoCONBBc_FtnoCngnLDEL37so&e=

marilyn:I am looking at the agenda and I still think taht we need to find out more about the attendees. Can we look at the agenda, which seems to be June 2 is the last day.

marilyn:If we can find out that businesses are attending -- that are targets for us, I'd like to try to figure that out.

Lawrence OlaWale-Roberts:the agenda is currently a draft

Chantelle Doerksen 2:I see on SATURDAY - 27 MAY 2017 , there are ICANN panels, one is Civil Society. I also see one for DNS Business. I just want to flag that

  Chantelle Doerksen 2:time: 16:00 - 17:00

Gabriela:Hello everyone, I am here, but had to come into a bar to be able to not miss the call, and there is noise here. I hope you will be able to hear me well. If not, I will send an email after the call with my update

Chantelle Doerksen 2:Hi Gabi, welcome :-) let me know if you'd like me to call you

Gabriela:I am with my cell phoone, if you want to try. + 5491140665454

Gabriela:I wil try to talk through the adobe but if it does not work you can try the cell

Chantelle Doerksen 2:ok, i'll stand by

Gabriela:I am on the phone, thanks a lot

Lawrence OlaWale-Roberts:Thanks will reach out to marylin

marilyn:I see Ola on the list. here she is!

marilyn:GABI, there is a great new Boston Consulting Group paper and also some interesting Inter American Development Bank papers on these topics. as well as World Bank and WEF - LATAM. sounds like a very intersting topic that would then draw in businesses.

Chantelle Doerksen 2:Hi Arinola, I sent you a private message. Can you hear us? :-)

  marilyn:Gabi, such a great idea.

marilyn:Argentina and then also Columbia and Costa Rica were among the ideas but .. yes, as a pilot .. sounds great. Do we know what the cost might be per event

Arinola Akinyemi:I can but poor network.  pls call 2348066688194

  Chantelle Doerksen 2:Ok, will redial

marilyn:as I mentioned, also I will be in Mexico in January and have contacts with the President's office so we can wait to propose something in Mexico as that is Jan 2018.

marilyn:We have also tried this in the past and I think that this is an improvement but we should be focused again on how we grow the Membership base, versus doing awareness and we need to do both.   I am disappointed that companies that are big in LATAM - l ike Telefonica and others including AT&T and Verizon are not really engaging with us in memberhip recruitmetn so maybe we can also thin k further aobut how to bet BC members who have partners in LATAM also encouraging their memers to join us, as well as support to ecommerce days outreach

Chantelle Doerksen 2:If it would help, I can draft a database of events and the group could add events

  Chantelle Doerksen 2:Ok, thanks Andrew

Gabriela:Marilyn after I encouraged Mercado Libre and invited Jacobo to LA and that does not changed their mind in terms of engagement I got quite dissapointed. I am now starting a new challenge and let´s see where it takes us.... I am happy to receive any suggestions and help and I believe that encouragement from BC members who have partners in Latam sounds like a very interesting try!

Gabriela:Regarding Mexico, eCommerce Institute has events there in May not January but I can connect you with our partners while you are there if that makes sens

Chantelle Doerksen 2:Thanks Arinola, I'll look for your email

marilyn:I know, Gabriela. I have had so many conversations with Telefonica and they keep promising and then not doing any outreach. As to Mexico, I should be there as a guest of the Mexican government as the CSTD intercessional should be there and if that happens, then we can do something with the ICT association, very small but with the President's office as a guest speaker.

marilyn:Ola, on the onboarding work, that Omar and Lawrene and I are working on, we have been talking about a FAQ with such details.

  marilyn:Only to congratulate you, Ola!

  marilyn:and thank you.

Lawrence OlaWale-Roberts:very true Arinola. Such materials would continue to reach out far when we are out of the scene. kudos

marilyn:the onboarding pilot that Lawrence, Omar and I are part of, as the Mentoring program, could use your advise, Ola. as we are developing some ideas and trying to put something more concrete together but for Jo'berg, would it be useful for you personally to send a personal email?

  Arinola Akinyemi:Thanks Marilyn

  Arinola Akinyemi:jolakin69@gmail.com

  Arinola Akinyemi:Thanks Lawrence

marilyn:FY 18 -- so, we should work on the draft before Jo'berg, as that needs to allow for BC discussion as a whole?

marilyn:before May 30 at latest, as then we have to meet other deadlines.

marilyn:Can we do this via email?

  Jimson Olufuye:Yes.

  Lawrence OlaWale-Roberts:+1

  Chantelle Doerksen 2:@ Andrew, right

  Gabriela:thanks everyone!!!

  Lawrence OlaWale-Roberts:Agree

marilyn:very effective call! and great progress.

Chantelle Doerksen 2:Andrew/Jimson, I'll send you the action items I listed from today

  Lawrence OlaWale-Roberts:bye

marilyn:thanks, Chantelle, as always for your great help.

Chantelle Doerksen 2:Thanks Marilyn, thanks all
