I make a counter proposal, as I described some benefits to having us take this up, and we can work then toward a booth for 2018, and strengthen the BC presence.
I propose an allocation of $1500 each to Mark and Jimson [ Mark will need to advance engagement in not just Gigabit on Day Zero, and I can help to get him involved in other workshops, or act as a rapporteur for the NRI session, if he can agree.Gigabit is not really affiliated in any way with the BC, but we can use this as a sort of "starter" engagement on Day Zero, and then look for other sessions that Mark can attend and support, either as a rapporteur, or as a participant from the floor, with his agreement.[
$1500 for Jimson, as he is speaking in a number of relevant workshops
$1,000 for Marilyn - list of events submitted
I have described various events I am speaking at and opportunities to promote the BC visibility.

Subject: Re: Trying again -- possible support for IGF attendeesTeam,
Was almost totally offline yesterday so just catching up. To your question, Marilyn, the criteria we discussed on the call were speaking at IGF and the ability to represent BC in front of audiences (including new audiences) that might be helpful to us. It seems that all 3 proposals would fit those criteria.
Just to be clear to all team members on the process, until Jimson made a request to Excomm (not to OC) there was only one formal request — from Mark, representing Nivaldo’s company.
Also, there wasn’t/isn’t any specific budget allocated to IGF Geneva in the Outreach Plan, and there was some active discussion about whether or not IGF was really a good opportunity for us. (The last strong opinion was from Marilyn’s email of 11/10 an excerpt of which is below, in response to the request from Mark):
As someone that is very familiar with the IGF, and how it works, there is no real opportunity to recruit business, nor to engage in BC outreach during the IGF. We can consider if we want to plan toward asking for funding for something for IGF2018, depending on who the host is.
So, I am a dissenting voice on this, at this point.
Marilyn
I have been to a number of IGFs and my sense is like Marilyn’s — that they have some value to the BC but are not worth a big investment on our part. Also we are only halfway through our FY and have to make our budget last — with work to do in the two coming Latin America ICANN meetings (and perhaps the run-up to them) as our membership is not as robust as we want in that region.
Given these factors my recommendation is that allocate a budget of $2400 and split it evenly among the 3 requesters ($800 each). This seems like the best mix of what members are asking for and the overall value of this particular event to the BC as noted above.
Cheers, Andrew

Thanks for the opportunity to request funding.
What is the criteria?
I haven't seen the email with the criteria, so I will just take a stab at justification for asking for $1,000 funding to attend.
Request from Marilyn Cade
Engagement at IGF2017 --
-participant in planning the agendas of the two ICANN sessions and participant in both
-co organizer of Day Zero Event focused on Social and economic opportunities for women, where the BC fact sheet will be distributed, and engagement of the BC described as relevant to engagement of women /in business from the CASA region
-keynote speaker at a formal event with Afghanistan, Pakisan, Tunisian delegations [85% governmental attendees]- engagement in ICANN is one of the key points in the briefing about IG and ICANN's role is key to this presentation/BC Fact Sheet distribution
-speaker at ICANNWiki booth [proposed to include other BC members attending]
-key contributor at the NRI shared booth, where we can put BC Fact Sheets
-offer to provide a brief review of the IGF Village booths, along with other funded BC travelers, to determine whether BC should host a booth at IGF2018
-speaker at at least one of the NRI collaborative sessions about models for multi stakeholder engagement -- using BC and ICANN as example: Fake News/Misinformation/Disinforma
tion.
Requested Funding: $1,000.
Again, I apologize, but did not see any criteria document/or the deadline, so am doing the best I can on responding with a request for funding.

Subject: [Bc-private] Trying again -- possible support for IGF attendeesAll,
Following up on yesterday's call as it appears my earlier email went to an earlier BC Private list that has been deactivated (sorry about that).
As of the time of our call yesterday, two BC representatives (Jimson Olufuye and Mark Datysgeld) had requested support for their participation at the upcoming IGF in Geneva. Both are speaking and are in positions to promote the BC as part of their participation, criteria suggested by members on yesterday's call as recommended conditions for support.
Recognizing that IGF is coming up quickly, are there any other BC members who will be attending IGF that are in need of support in order to attend and meet the criteria? (If so, what role will you be playing?)
In the interest of time, please send back any new requests by COB tomorrow Eastern time US. The Outreach Committee will try to review the requests and budget and pass along recommendations to Excomm by Monday COB.
Thanks,Andrew
