We should invite an update from Omar about the Afghanistan outreach event and also invite Ola
from her participation in Uganda. She has sent her report in but perhaps 5 minutes each would be
important, both to recognize the work each have done and also to understand the benefits of
the sponsorship - toward awareness and engagement, and membership recruitment.
Can we agree on those invitations -- Omar is a member of this Committee but we would need to reach out to Ola.
We could also invite Waudo to brief us on his invitation to speak and role at this event, but I am not
sure that his schedule would permit, still we could invite.
I'll try to catch up with Gabi [if we can, Gabi?] to discuss the LATAM strategy before the call.
Perhaps we can SKYPE. I received a response from both Mexico from a businessman there that I've known for
about 20 years, who is on the President's Advisory Council, and also from Colombia from contacts that I've worked
with there -- both from industry and the technical community, and also from Costa Rica.
I think that events in Colombia and Costa Rica would be great and we can perhaps delay Mexico. It appears that I am
going to Mexico at the invitation of the Minister of Science and Technology in January, 2018, and when I mentioned that I wanted to meet with the industry sector, they were very enthused about being a speaker about Digital Mexico.
to attract businesses from these governments, generally, a high level govt speaker is even more of a draw than the BC@ICANN! [that was intended as a joke].
Panama - ICANN: I am also looking into my invitation to speak in Panama at the NA School of Internet Governance,
which while it will draw from the American Islands and is not open to others from other regions, still might have some opportunity for the BC if we nominate and encourage attendance at the NA
SIG. And the cost in that instance is just extra copies of the brochures and fact sheets translated into Spanish.
