As a direct outcome of the IGFAfghanistan, that the BC supported so generously, I was able to meet with the Shahzad Ayobee, Minister of Communications and IT, Afghanistan, and had a rather unusually long meeting, which covered many topics of relevance to the BC’s interests.
I thus share the meeting report, attached. If this can be published on the website, and possibly on the next newsletter.
I am engaging with the participants from the Afghan government and business for ICANN60 and will be sure that they are aware of the luncheon with the GAC that we are organizing.
Also, I saw that Marilyn proposed that we take a different approach to our next two pager, and I volunteer to provide a very short summary of the meeting with the Afghan Minister. I liked her suggestion that we feature short “stories” of how the BC is engaging with their local communities, including with the government representatives, to ensure that the voice of business is being taken into account. The AfiCTA Summit is another excellent example, as is the recent event in Brazil. Marilyn suggested that be a part of the Onboarding pilot, and I support that and will contribute a much shortened version.
Please, see and let me know if you have questions or need further information.
Best regards,
Omar
