This is wonderful stuff.  I made a few edits to clarify (and to try to push ICANN more) but have changed little.

A couple of quick questions where we might want comment:

1.  Do we have any idea what kind of support from ICANN staff is expected for this activity?  If support is being offered, would be good to know what kind is envisioned.

2.  Do we have a diversity goal — short of saying that SO/AC groups should strive for greater diversity?  Perhaps that sounds too business/transactional (and recognizing that hard targets can be abused if not structured correctly).  Still, if we’re serious about diversity, can we define what success looks like?

Not sure if either of these two issues has been addressed already, but I didn’t see them.

Many thanks to Jimson and Marilyn for great work on this,
Andrew

WITH APOLOGIES, IF I LEFT ANYONE OFF WHO VOLUNTEERED TO COMMENT:

Dear BC colleagues
Thanks for Jimson for kicking off comments, and to Steve for also providing the link to the initial BC comments, which I think are still quite relevant.

I worked from Jimson's initial comments, and provided some additional comments. I haven't seen comments from other BC volunteers, but apologize if I missed any such comments.

I also include [with thanks to Steve for the reminder] the initial response of the BC, which many of us contributed to, at that time here as a link, and suggest we may want to add it as a background comment:

BC response to CCWG-Accountabillity WS2 Questions on Diversity

As Steve has noted,
we are running late on this submission.

My comments added to Jimson's key points do the following: first, endorse and support the recommendations, and then:
-note that ICANN will need to be pragmatic about its commitment to translation and interpretation, but may need to do
more when translation is about the IANA functions.
-noting that the BC does a lot already but that human and financial resources are limitations to making information available in all UN official languages/and beyond.
-diversity is also about enabling participation from different sub regions/regions in events that ICANN organizes, or that are related to ICANN, where ICANN is participating

All BC member comments are welcomed, of course, and with apologies, as a volunteer to drafting,if  you can provide them within the next 24 hours, we will still be late, but we can then send out to all  BC members.

I suspect we all are just overwhelmed with other work, but special thanks again to Steve and and Jimson.
