ICANN BC Outreach Activities are supported via the quarterly BC newsletter which usually has an update report, and regular updates to the BC membership.

Specific activities include invitations to new business attendees to join the CSG breakfast [or other social events] during ICANN informally, as well as joining events with ICANN staff -- e.g. lunch events organized in Marrakech and Hyderabad, distribution of BC newsletters at the ICANN Newcomers Booth, participation by some BC members in staffing at that booth; speaking to fellows by BC officers on a regular basis at each ICANN meeting, distribution of BC newsletters at other events, such as the IGF2016, and at other related events, such as the WSIS Forum for informational awareness. Specific events that were directly organized by the BC Outreach Committee include the AfiCTA Summit, and distribution of BC materials at the WITSA World Congress on IT by a member of the BC.

Team,

Further to Andy Abrams’ note, would appreciate your quick inputs as to which activities we might include.  I was thinking that we could mention our two ICANN outreach efforts — successful lunches at Hyderabad and Marrakech — as well as external efforts such as the AfICTA conference.

What else would you recommend we include?

Thanks Andrew

Hi Steve, Andrew, and Phil,

Attached is my draft statement for the Staff's consideration, responding to each of the public comments addressing the new BC Charter.  Please feel free to make any edits you feel are necessary.

I've left one highlighted note for the Outreach Committee to add content, and obviously any other comments from the membership are also welcome.

Best,

I’m directing this to the BC Charter drafting team (including Andrew Harris this time), although all BC members are invited to help.

The public comment period on the proposed BC charter recently concluded (link). There were 4 comments posted, plus our reply to Afnic’s comment.

I spoke with ICANN’s Rob Hoggarth in Iceland on Thursday, and learned that he is the staffer who will summarize the comments and prepare a report to the ICANN board.   I asked Rob if he would consider a point-by-point response from the BC before he prepares his report to the Board.   Rob welcomed that idea and said we could take up to 2 weeks to get him our response.

This is an excellent opportunity to help inform the board’s reaction to the public comments.

To get us started, I pasted the comments into a single doc (attached), with highlighted areas where we can explain our response.

I place this doc draft in the hands of our charter drafting committee  — Andy Abrams (chair), Phil Corwin, and Andrew Harris.

We could also use help from the Outreach Committee regarding the draft response to Afnic’s comment. (Andrew Mack as chair, Jimson Olufuye, Marilyn Cade, and Lawrence OlaWale-Roberts)

Thanks in advance for editing the attached doc, and we should circulate for BC member review no later than 25-Feb.
