Dear all,

please be so kind to find the email in which Tijani Ben Jemaa has suggested the following:

- merge the ATLAS II survey with the ALS Capacity building survey
- re-arrange the survey into sub-sections separating the questions aimed at satisfying the needs of the ATLAS II and the needs of the Capacity Building WG

I must admit that I was initially quite sceptical about joining the two surveys together because I was worried that it would take too much time... and that it would end up being way too large.
But Tijani's suggestion that it is in 3 parts was a very welcome suggestion. This way, we have the questions very clear.

The two input documents, are at:

ATLAS II Consolidated Draft

Since we need to move quickly on this, please let us know if this proposal is good for you.
Staff will shortly send a Doodle poll to arrange the next Atlas II Survey call where a decision will be made and a final version of the survey be produced - ready to send to all of our ALSes. Meanwhile, At-Large Staff are already updating the list of ALS representatives.

Kind regards,

Olivier

Good morning Wolf,

The capacity building working group met (teleconference) yesterday and discussed the issue of preparing the ALSes for the ATLAS II summit. We agreed that we are already late and need to start immediately the process. The first step is to issue the survey to know what are the expectations of the ALSes to define a capacity building program that would give them the minimum information and knowledge necessary to participate efficiently in the Summit.

The issue of an ALS receiving 2 survey in the same period was raised; the decision in the WG was to contact you and propose that we issue a single survey with 3 parts:

Part 1: General information about the ALS

Part 2: ATLAS II

Part 3: Capacity building

I know that you refused to merge both surveys because it will be a too long survey and the objectives are different. I totally agree with your arguments and the WG considered them and propose that the part dedicated to the capacity building be shortened and restricted to the issues of capacity building only. Also, if you agree, we will use the part 1 for both of us avoiding the duplication.

Wolf, the main reason of merging the surveys is to avoid the confusion and to maximize the number of ALSes responding to the survey.

At the capacity building WG, we decided to work on the survey for a week and come up with a very short but efficient part that would be the CB section of a global survey. Also, we can propose a draft of part 1.

Wolf, this is the CBWG proposal. I hope you will like. Your prompt reply is very appreciated

Thank you Wolf for your understanding
