Dear all,
The June edition of the New gTLD Subsequent Procedures PDP Working Group newsletter is now available:
http://go.icann.org/SubPro
. It contains an overview of the current status and next steps for Work Track 1-5. An archive of previous editions of the newsletter is available on the WG wiki [community.icann.org] and
on the
GNSO website.
The Working Group established five separate Work Tracks to consider specific topic areas:
Work Track 1 - Overall Process/Support/Outreach,
Work Track 2 - Legal/Regulatory,
Work Track 3 - String Contention/Objections & Disputes,
Work Track 4 - Internationalized Domain Names/Technical & Operations,
Work Track 5 - Geographic Names at the Top Level.
ccNSO participation in WT5 (geographic names)
Following the adoption of the
recommendations of the Cross-community Working Group on the Use of Country and Territory Names as TLDs (CCWG
UCTN) and hence closure of this CCWG, the ccNSO participates in Work Track 5 (WT5) under the GNSO New gTLD subsequent procedures policy development process (PDP
WG).
Work Track 5 focuses on developing proposed recommendations regarding the treatment of geographic names at the top-level.
The group
reached agreement on its Terms of Reference and began substantive deliberations in 2018.
During a session at the upcoming ccNSO Members Meeting in Panama, we will focus on country and territory names and the views of the ccTLD managers present, to inform the ccNSO appointed
members of the WG and WT5 leadership. The ccNSO appointed co-lead to WT5 is Annebeth Lange (.no).
