This would seem to fit exactly the role of the vice chair in the event the chair is conflicted, as we have here.

In order to avoid any misunderstanding or doubt: Katrina is and remains the chair of the ccNSO (Council). She is expected to do all the work associated with being a chair😊, even after she was properly nominated and accepted her nomination. However, the only exception is that another person should take on the specific tasks defined in the Guideline ccNSO  Nomination Process Board Seat 11 and 12 ( https://ccnso.icann.org/sites/default/files/field-attached/ccnso-nominations-icann-board-guideline-21may20-en.pdf ) after the chair of the Council has accepted nomination as (one of the) candidate(s) the Council should designate another person to take one these specific tasks.

The tasks listed in the Guideline are:

 

In addition, but not documented, the practice has evolved that at a Council meeting when progress of the Nomination Process is discussed the candidate(s) (whether the Chair or other Councillor) do(es) not participate/attend that part of the Council meeting. This part of the meeting will then be chaired by another person in case the chair is a candidate.

Thank you Pablo and Margarita for your support :) ! Indeed I don't have any problem taking this role and also have nothing against Byron doing it either; he has my support if he wishes to do so and the rest of the council agrees with it.

 

I have the feeling that there is a misunderstanding on the "Chair's tasks under the Guideline" that need to be designated to another person when the current chair is one of the candidates for election to the ICANN Board. Maybe Bart could clarify this?

 

On another note, it is clear that I have not been involved in certain discussions regarding this election process. Somehow "the ccNSO Council decided to extend the acceptance period with one week" and I didn't receive this request for approval (not that I wouldn't have agreed, but still). Also, the silence for this administrative request is very strange and awkward. I don't understand why these things are happening and would like to have this issue added for discussion on the agenda for our next council call.
