Dear all,
This is to inform you about the status and next steps for the 2019 ccNSO Council elections.
You will be able to read this announcement here as well:
https://ccnso.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-11oct18-en.htm
In accordance with the approved timeline, the nomination period for the ccNSO Council closed on Wednesday, 3 October 2018, 23:59 UTC. The nomination archives can be found
at: https://forum.icann.org/lists/ccnso-nominations/.
In accordance to the applicable rules, the following candidates were nominated, seconded and have accepted their nomination for the ccNSO council election:
Africa: Biyi Oladipo
Asia-Pacific: Jordan Carter
Europe: Nick Wenban-Smith
Marta Moreira Dias
Latin America / Caribbean: Demi Getschko
North America: Pablo Rodriguez
Their candidate statements, if any, will be published here:
https://ccnso.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-11oct18-en.htm Those received to date have been included in attachment.
Next steps: Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America/Caribbean, North America
As only one candidate was nominated and seconded within the nomination period for the African, Asia-Pacific, Latin American / Caribbean and North American regions, no elections needed to be held in those
regions.
Since at the close of nominations there are no more valid candidates in the aforementioned geographic regions than there are seats on the ccNSO Council available for those regions,
then the nominated candidates shall be selected to serve on the ccNSO Council.
Next steps: Europe
For the European region, in accordance to the applicable rules, two (2) candidates were nominated, seconded and have accepted their nomination, namely Nick Wenban-Smith and Marta Moreira Dias. Consequently, an election will be
held according to the timeline previously agreed upon by the ccNSO Council, among the ccNSO members from the European region.
Voting starts on Thursday, 8 November 2018 (00:01 UTC) and closes on Thursday, 22 November 2018 (23:59 UTC)
The vote will be by confidential email. Voting ballots will be sent by tally@icann.org to
the e-mail address of the primary contact of each ccNSO Member from the European region, as listed in the ccNSO Members database. Contact Joke Braeken (joke.braeken@icann.org)
if you have questions or concerns regarding the e-mail address of the primary contact for your ccTLD.
Since the election is for one seat, each ccNSO member will be entitled to vote for up to one candidate.
At the Q&A session - held during the ccNSO Members Meeting at ICANN63 in Barcelona - there will be an opportunity for the ccNSO members and broader ccTLD community to interact
with the candidates. The session is scheduled for day 1 of the upcoming ccNSO Members Meeting at ICANN63 in Barcelona (14:20-15:00, Room 114). Consult here the agenda of the ICANN63 ccNSO Members
Meeting: https://community.icann.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=90768548
This session will be chaired by Peter Vergote (.be).
In preparation of this session, the candidates have been invited to share a candidate statement with the ccNSO members via the ccNSO members mailing list.
Their candidate statements, if any, will be published here:

The term of the newly appointed councillors will start at the conclusion of ICANN64 (9-14 March, Kobe, Japan).
In March 2019, at the conclusion of ICANN64 in Kobe (9-14 March 2019), the 3-year term of the following ccNSO Councillors ends:
Africa: Abibu Ntahigiye
Asia-Pacific: Debbie Monahan
Europe: Peter Vergote
Latin America/Caribbean: Demi Getschko
