Dear all,

ICANN’s community-wide Working Group on Geographic Regions has published their draft final report http://www.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-3-30sep11-en.htm (available in all six UN languages).

A comment period has also opened until 19 December 2011.

In 2007, the ccNSO Council approved a resolution, recommending the formation of a community-wide working group to study and review the issues related to the current definition of the ICANN Geographic Regions.

The community-wide working group has analysed the background and principles of the current definition and has consulted with the community on how they should be maintained in the future. Based on this, the Draft Final Report presents recommendations from the Working Group to the ICANN Board on how the present Geographic Regions Framework can be updated, whilst the principles of geographic and cultural diversity remain.

The Working Group will also present its recommendations to the ccNSO at the Dakar meeting.

Kind regards,

Gabi
