Stephen reminded me that we may have received a letter from the government of Nuie, which is now included (see below). We received a copy of the letter on 16 December 2020 from .nu GAC representative (Pär Brumark) as did the GAC Secretariat. Please note, the letter is addressed to the ICANN Board of Directors, IANA, ccNSO and GAC and deals with one specific ccTLD: .nu. Also note that the email stated “do not reply to this email”. As we were not asked to respond or take any other actions, we did not take it further.

 

In addition, and more importantly, even if we were asked to respond (as has happened on other occasions such as complaints from individuals), neither the ccNSO nor the ccNSO Council have ever considered any other position than that individual cases or issues should be dealt with locally, i.e. by the parties involved.  I trust that you, in your role as Councillors, will treat this letter with the appropriate level of discretion and refrain from comments that might be interpreted as a position different from the one we have always expressed (i.e. it is a local matter) unless otherwise discussed and agreed by the Council.
