Following a call for volunteers, a number of candidates applied for membership of the drafting team that will formulate a response to questions from ICANN legal regarding a Bylaw change to include IDN ccTLDs as members to the ccNSO. The ccNSO Council approves membership to the drafting team for the candidates included below.

 

  • Hiro Hotta (.jp)
  • Jiankang Yao (.cn)
  • Mira Fajri (.id)

 

The secretariat is requested to take all necessary steps to include Hiro, Jiankang and Mira as members of the drafting team, including informing Ai-Chin Lu who was previously appointed as the Councillor who will lead the drafting team.

 

  • Background

 

The ccNSO Council sought a limited number of volunteers for a drafting team for a ccNSO statement as a response to questions from ICANN legal regarding a Bylaw change to include IDN ccTLDs as members to the ccNSO.  The ccNSO Council appointed Ai-Chin Lu (.tw) - ccNSO Councilor for the Asia-Pacific region - as designated Councilor to lead this effort. The ccNSO Secretariat launched a call for volunteers, whch closed 2 December (noon UTC).  The drafting team will use the ccNSO Statement procedure as described in the applicable guideline.  The team is expected to submit its draft statement to the ccNSO members for feedback and comments by mid January 2021, according to the timeline included below.

 

TIMELINE

 

  • Opening call for volunteers Drafting Team: 24 November
  • Closure call for volunteers Drafting Team: 2 Dec. (noon UTC)
  • Secretariat asks Council to appoint the Drafting Team: 2 Dec. (> noon UTC)
  • Council deadline to appoint the DT: 4 Dec. (23:59 UTC)
  • Drafting Team meeting #1: 7 Dec. (10:00 UTC)
  • Drafting team sends its draft statement to Council for review: 14 December
  • Deadline for Council input: 18 Dec. (23:59 UTC)
  • Drafting Team meeting #2: 21 Dec. (Time TBC)
  • End-of-year holiday season. ICANN closes between 24 Dec. and 3 Jan.
  • Draft statement sent to ccNSO members for input: 12 January
  • Deadline for comments by ccNSO members: 19 January (23:59 UTC)
  • Drafting Team meeting #3: 20 January (Time TBC)
  • Drafting Team sends final version to Council for adoption: 21 January
  • Deadline adoption ccNSO statement by Council: 27 January
