Dear Councillors,

Today I received a letter of resignation from Mathieu Weill, ccNSO appointed co-chair of the CCWG-Accountability (see below). Mathieu will leave Afnic on 1 May 2017 and take up a new position, which he cannot combine with the membership and co-chairmanship of the CCWG.

Moving forward, we will have to take two decisions:
-              Appoint a co-chair to replace Mathieu. Jordan Carter, .nz is another very active ccNSO member on the CCWG. He has participated on the calls of co-chairs before and knows everything that needs to be done. Luckily, Jordan agreed to step. I don’t think we can find a better replacement for Mathieu;
-              Call for a new member to fill our slate of members on CCWG.

Included is the resolution. I would appreciate if you could express your views as soon as possible, but definitely by next Tuesday, 2 May 2016, to ensure continuity of the CCWG and our role in the process.

Kind regards,

Resolution

Background

The ccNSO Council has received a letter from Mathieu Weill, .fr, informing that he steps down as a ccNSO appointed co-chair of the cross-community working group Accountability (CCWG) and resigns as a ccNSO appointed member. As one of the chartering organsations of the CCWG, the ccNSO may appoint a co-chair and up to five (5) members on the CCWG. To ensure continuity of the CCWG and the role and input of ccTLDs in the work stream 2 process, the ccNSO Council decides:

Decision 1.
The ccNSO Council appoints Jordan Carter, .nz, as the ccNSO appointed co-chair of the CCWG effective immediately, to replace Mathieu Weill in that position. The Chair of the ccNSO is requested to inform the other co-chairs, chartering organisations and relevant ICANN staff accordingly.

Decision 2.
The Secretariat is requested to launch a call for membership on the CCWG. The ccNSO Council will use the same selection process as for the original appointments and replacements for WS 2.  (https://community.icann.org/display/CSPFCWGOIA/ccNSO+Selection+Process+for+Cross-Community+Working+Group+on+ICANN+Accountability).

Decision 3.
The ccNSO Council wants to express its deep appreciation for all the hard work and effort Mathieu has put into the CCWG Accountability. As one of the co-chairs of the CCWG he was instrumental to bring the IANA Stewardship transition to a successful close. On behalf the entire ccNSO community, the ccNSO Council is immensely grateful for all the time and effort Mathieu has put into it and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

Dear Katrina,

April 28th will be my last day as Afnic’s CEO. My new position will not enable me to maintain my involvement as a volunteer in the ccNSO or within ICANN in general.

Therefore, with this letter, I submit my resignation as a ccNSO appointed Member in the CCWG-Accountability and CCWG-Auctions Proceeds, effective on April 28th. This also implies that I will no longer be serving as a ccNSO appointed co-chair of the CCWG-Accountability. I am confident that the Council can find another skilled and committed volunteer for this important service.

For ccNSO related issues, Pierre Bonis will be Afnic’s official representative in his capacity of acting CEO.

I am thankful for the opportunity to serve our ccTLD community, and for the support and trust of the Council throughout this effort.

Best wishes,
