The Application period closed yesterday (Friday 29 July) and we received two applications:

Selection phase by Councillors
On 30 July 2016, I will send you all applications received 17.00 UTC to your individual email addresses.
Next step is that you select your preferred candidate to Kim Carlson (kimberly.carlson@icann.org ), with subject line NomCom candidate. To select your preferred
candidates you are supposed to take into account and be guided by the selection criteria in the call for volunteers (included for reference)

Administrative Procedure
After you send Kim your email, she will acknowledge receipt of your email and include a ballot number and date of receipt.
On 4 August 2016 (after 17.00 UTC) she will then circulate a list in the following format:
- Ballot number,
- Date ballot was received,
- level of preference per candidate.
As agreed by Council the candidate receiving most support of the cast votes will be selected.
Call for volunteers
Dear all,
In accordance with the ccNSO Guideline: Appointment of delegate to the Nominating Committee (http://ccnso.icann.org/workinggroups/appointment-nomcom-delegate-05nov08.pdf),
the ccNSO Council is now looking for a volunteer to serve on ICANN’s Nominating Committee (NomCom) on behalf of the ccNSO. Please note that candidates may self-nominate.
If you are interested in serving in this position, please, send an email to the ccNSO Secretariat (ccnsosecretariat@icann.org),
and include a short motivation why you wish to serve on the NomCom.
Closing date for nomination is
Friday 29 July 2015, 17.00 UTC.
The list of candidates will be presented to all ccNSO Councillors, who are eligible to vote and who will then take a decision by email vote.
The NomCom is an independent committee tasked with selecting eight members of the Board of Directors and other key positions within ICANN's structure. The 2017 NomCom will select 3 Directors of the ICANN Board,
2 members of the ALAC, 1 member of the GNSO Council, and 1 member of the ccNSO Council. More information on the criteria for serving as appointee on the NomCom can be found at the end of this email and on the NomCom itself at

Specific criteria for selecting a delegate to the NomCom is provided in Article VII, Section 4 of ICANN’s Bylaws (http://www.icann.org/en/about/governance/bylaws#VII):
“Section 4. CRITERIA FOR SELECTION OF NOMINATING COMMITTEE DELEGATES
Delegates to the ICANN Nominating Committee shall be:
1. Accomplished persons of integrity, objectivity, and intelligence, with reputations for sound judgment and open minds, and with experience and competence with collegial large group decision-making;
2. Persons with wide contacts, broad experience in the Internet community, and a commitment to the success of ICANN;
3. Persons whom the selecting body is confident will consult widely and accept input in carrying out their responsibilities;
4. Persons who are neutral and objective, without any fixed personal commitments to particular individuals, organizations, or commercial objectives in carrying out their Nominating Committee responsibilities;
5. Persons with an understanding of ICANN's mission and the potential impact of ICANN's activities on the broader Internet community who are willing to serve as volunteers, without compensation other than the
reimbursement of certain expenses; and
6. Persons who are able to work and communicate in written and spoken English.”
All 2017 NomCom members should be able to attend the first formal meeting of the 2017 NomCom in Hyderabad, India which is most likely to be held at the end of the ICANN 57 meeting, 3 – 9 November 2016. Travel
and hotel accommodation will be provided.
* NomCom delegates should have a high level network of contacts essential to candidate recruitment
* Eligibility Exception - No person who is an employee of or paid consultant to ICANN (including the Ombudsman) shall simultaneously serve in any of the Nominating Committee positions as described in Article
VII, Section 2 of ICANN’s Bylaws (https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/bylaws-2012-02-25-en#VII-2).
* The person should be able to join monthly teleconferences (typically 13:00 or 14:00 UTC). Note that the committee's workload will increase significantly during Apr/May/June 2017 when the candidate assessment
process will be at its busiest. Conference calls are held more frequently (typically weekly) during this time as well.
* The person must be able to attend the NomCom selection meeting in late June 2017.
* The person should be willing to work in a large, consensus-oriented committee.
