.kr would like the following updated information to be added to the description regarding .kr on page 7.
The IDNA standards applied to IDN.kr can function properly only if the browser supports the IDNA standard. However, IE6 does not support the IDNA standard, and KISA was therefore forced to provide redirection services in order to provide .kr users with optimal IDN.kr browsing experience while complying with the IDNA PUNYCODE standards. We would like to emphasize that .kr’s redirection service is a temporary service due to the high percentage of IE6 users in Korea.
We are happy to report that the percentage of IE6 users has recently been decreasing at a faster rate than in previous years. Approximately 80% of the internet users in Korea were using IE6 in 2003 but the percentage of IE6 users had decreasd to 50% in February, 2010, and decreased even further to 40% in May, 2010. KISA is also continuously encouraging Internet users in Korea to start using IDN supported browsers. KISA plans to stop the redirection service when the number of IE6 users decreases to a non-significant level
