Doug (and other AC-SO Leadership)...  Just a short note to firstly thank you
for ensuring that the conference attending community within ICANN has
remained fully aware of updates you have received with the recent posting to
the conference website;  and of the plans for deliberations and decisions to
be made as a consequence of full and detailed professional information and
analysis being undertaken at the moment to also be reported to the community
in such an open and transparent way.

Certainly we believe this information and your intention to keep us
informed, allows for individuals and companies who plan to attend this
meeting to make their choices of attending (or not) based on as much
relevant information as possible.

In writing this to you today I am however formally, letting you and through
you and Vanda the ICANN Board know that at our ALAC ExCom Meeting held
earlier today, we reviewed all list traffic and opinion we have been made
aware of from all parts of our Community but specifically from our Regional
Leadership and the ALAC who are ICANN sponsored travelers planning to attend
this meeting, and discussed our reactions and responses to these recent
updates.

As a result of this it is my role to inform you that we (the ALAC and
Regional Leadership) **remain in full support** of the meeting continuing to
be held in Nairobi (with all due care and responsibility being taken as has
been discussed in many fora (including the recent community briefing calls).

Specifically at todays meeting where each of the five geographic regions
were represented, we were unaware of any sponsored traveler on our list who
is since the recent reports indicating any willingness to change their plans
to attend and unanimous in our intention to attend the meeting and to
encourage ICANN to make all possible efforts to ensure this meeting runs as
planned. Additionally our staff who are budgeted for and planning to attend
confirmed their intention to attend, and with all the ALAC Regional reps to
the ExCom present on the call we agreed unanimously that I should write to
you to affirm that based on our review of community opinion, our intention
is *to attend a meeting held in Nairobi, Kenya*.
