All,
You
may have heard that the ITU are once again seeking to expand their activities
into the internet space. One example of this has involved a concerted effort on
their part to persuade their membership that the allocation of IPv6 addresses is
being done in such a way as to disadvantage developing countries, thereby
justifying a bid to have ITU established as an additional Regional Internet
Registry.
Working
closely with Paul Wilson, CEO of APNIC, ICANN prepared the attached paper, and
got it agreed by all the RIR’s as a common position paper on IPv6
address allocation. It is a self explanatory and stand alone fact sheet
which was submitted to the ITU last week.
Please
feel free to share the paper with colleagues. It would be good if the
paper were drawn to the attention of national representatives in the ITU.
Cheers,
Chris
