Hi all,
I don’t have any strong feelings about this. I was inclined to go for option “ccNSO room” but Stephen touches a number of good points.
My suggestion would be to look at the other ICANN Board / SO’s-AC’s. If, for example GNSO and ALAC, travel to ICANN Board then it might be “wise” if we do the same and not inverse things making us look “those ccTLD special guys”.
Best regards,
Peter

Greetings to Debbie, Margarita, and our fellow Council members,
First, I would like to acknowledge that for the first time in a long time, it appears that the Board is willing to “travel” to come see us. That is a nice gesture on their part.
However, I raise the following issues before we decide on whether to host them or be their guests:
- Will the ccNSO room have the proper set-up? The usual ccNSO room setup is a linear desk arrangement at the front of the room. Contrast that with the U-shaped desk arrangement typically present for the day the Board hosts the various SO/AC for consultation. I submit that the U-shaped seating arrangement the Board has offered in the past is critical for proper interaction –we need to be able to see them, and they need to be able to see us. If the ccNSO room needs to be transformed from a linear desk setup to a U-shaped setup, and then back to a linear desk setup at the conclusion of the Council-Board meeting so we can continue our work, do we gain any “time efficiency”?
- The Board – SO/AC meetings tend to attract considerable attendance. Will the ccNSO room be large enough to accommodate this particular session?
I admit I’m a bit shocked at suggesting this, but I think from a practical matter it makes better sense to me that we travel to them than host them, so as not to disrupt our meeting room. That they offered to travel to see us, to me, shows respect to us that we have not seen in the recent past. And we should acknowledge that when we meet with them.
Best Regards,
/Stephen

Dear Councillors,
This is to consult with you regarding the location of the joint meeting between the ccNSO and the ICANN Board at ICANN60, scheduled to take place on Wednesday 1 November between 13:30 and 14:30.
We were given the opportunity to specify our preference for the location of that meeting: either the ccNSO meeting room, or the main hall. Please note that we have the possibility to avoid switching rooms, and hence to avoid losing time, if we meet with the Board in the ccNSO room.
Could you please confirm your preference?
- Main hall
- ccNSO meeting room
The deadline for feedback is noon UTC on Friday.

- scheduling of the joint session with the ICANN Board
- ICANN Board seat 12
- NomCom appointments
Further suggestions are welcome. Thank you.
Kind regards.
