Dear Katrina, dear all,
I also endorse the draft letter.
Only one minor observation and something to be further examined by native English speaking people.
There is a mention in the draft letter of “your selection”
Your selection is on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA)
If I read this, it is almost as we are referring to a “thing” and not to a person. I agree that we should keep the tone of our letter neutral and to the point but we are referring to the selection
of a person (and more specifically the affiliation of that person that is causing the problem) and not to an object.
So maybe, this could/should be replaced by wording like “The person you selected”?
I further support sending a copy to John Jeffrey so that the ICANN legal department is fully informed of our legitimate concerns.
And lastly, I find it absolutely necessary to inform Ms. Moll about our action towards the NomCom. I quite like Nigel’s suggestion to keep this very straightforward and not take the risk to diffuse
the message by sending a lengthy (and potentially apologizing) letter to Ms. Moll. So, I’m in favor of a brief cover letter with an attached copy of the communication to the NomCom chair.
Best regards,
Peter
