Dear Councillors,
A short update on the developments with respect to the IFR team.
As you remember, according to the temporary guideline, the Chair and Vice-chairs were asked to come up with the composition of ccNSO Council appointed members to the IFR team, taking into account Council’s vote as much as possible.
We have discussed the situation as follows:
- We have no volunteers from non-members of the ccNSO, therefore, we cannot appoint a non-member ccTLD.
- We went to a great length to inform and encourage non-member ccTLDs to participate. However, with no results.
- IANA Functions review is very important for the ccTLD community, therefore, ccTLDs have to be strongly represented on the IFR team. If we appoint only 2 members to this team, ccTLD community will be underrepresented.
Considering all of the above, we decided:
- To appoint three members to the IFT team, all ccNSO members, top-three candidates from the Council vote (luckily, they all are from different geographic regions).
- The third member will step down if a non-member ccTLD representative with the required skill-set and experience steps forward.
Kind regards,
