Dear ccNSO members,
The ccNSO currently counts 55 members from the Asia/Australia/Pacific region, corresponding to 54 Territories, and therefor 54 Emissaries. The email below mistakenly referred to 53 Territories and 53 Members.
My sincere apologies for the typo.
Best regards,
Joke Braeken

This is to inform you about the elections for the position of
one (1)
ccNSO

member for the Asia/Australia/Pacific region. Voting in the first round will start Thursday, 9 November 2023 (00:01
UTC) and closes on Thursday,
30 November 2023 (23:59 UTC).
In accordance with the applicable rules, two (2) candidates from the Asia/Australia/Pacific
region were nominated, seconded and have accepted their nomination. Consequently, an election will be held among the ccNSO members of the Asia/Australia/Pacific Region. Only ccNSO members from a Geographic Region are allowed to vote for candidates to the ccNSO
Council from that Geographic Region.
Candidates
In alphabetical order:
The candidates were invited to submit candidate statements to the ccNSO members. They interacted
with the ccNSO members and broader ccTLD community at a Q&A session, held during the ccNSO Members Meeting at ICANN78.

Election opening and closing
Voting in the first round
will start Thursday, 9 November 2023 (00:01 UTC)

30 November 2023 (23:59 UTC).
Voting ballots
Voting ballots will be sent latest on
Wednesday, 8 November
by 23:00 UTC, from tally@icann.org to
the e-mail address of the Emissary of each ccNSO Member from the
Asia/Australia/Pacific region, as listed in the ccNSO Members
database.
As per the October 2022
Rules
of the ccNSO, the Emissary is the Representative selected by the ccTLD Manager in accordance with Section 10.4(e) of the ICANN Bylaws for the purpose of voting
in the specific cases enumerated in Article 10 & Annex B of the ICANN Bylaws and the Internal Rules and Internal Procedures of the ccNSO.
Each eligible
Emissary
will receive
one (1) unique
ballot.
The ccNSO currently counts 55 members from the
Asia/Australia/Pacific region,
corresponding to 53 Territories, and therefor 53 Emissaries.
Do you have questions or concerns regarding the email address of the Emissary for your Territory? Contact the Nomination Process Manager, Joke Braeken (joke.braeken@icann.org).
If you are unable to locate the ballot, please also
consider checking your spam folder.
Election procedure
Since the election is for one seat, each
eligible Emissary
will be entitled to vote for up to one candidate. For each ballot, a maximum of 1 candidate can be selected. There is a possibility
to submit your ballot without selecting any of the candidates. Each Emissary
will receive 1 ballot only. You can vote an unlimited number of times, but only the last vote submitted will be counted.
When the results are displayed, the votes are only identified by the ballot ID, and not by the voter's email address.
As per the relevant guideline,
a majority of all the Emissaries in the Geographic Region entitled to vote shall constitute a quorum, and the selected candidate must receive the votes of a majority of those cast
by the Emissaries from the Geographic Region. The
winner is the candidate who receives the plurality of the votes. In the event two or more candidates have received the same number of votes in the election, and no winner can be
identified, a run-off election will be conducted between these candidates.
Next Steps
The election closes on Thursday,
30 November 2023 (23:59 UTC).
The Election Manager will announce the voting results on Friday,
1 December
(latest by 23:59 UTC). In case there is a need for a second voting round, or in case there is a tied vote, elections will be held, according to the
timeline previously agreed by Council.
The Election Report, which includes the results of the election, will be sent to the ccNSO Council for adoption. The Chair of the ccNSO Council shall inform the
ICANN Secretary of the selection.
