This email serves as a reminder that application deadline for participation in the community-based team that will review the security, stability, and resiliency of the DNS (SSR2-RT) is 15 September 2016 at 23:59 UTC.

 

Interested candidates can learn about the importance of this Review by visiting the SSR2 Call for Volunteers information page for an overview of what to expect, or view David Conrad’s video on the importance of the security review to ICANN.

 

For SSR2-RT, ICANN is seeking a geographically diverse team of security experts to look at operational stability and resiliency matters relating to the coordination of the Internet’s system of unique identifiers.

 

The SSR2 Review Team will require candidates with a range of expertise such as:

 

·      Understanding of Internet Unique Identifiers, including: DNS, IP numbering, AS numbers, protocol parameters

·      Identification and mitigation of abuse within those sectors

·      Understanding operation of the DNS root name system

·      Understanding malware and abuse vectors and mitigations

·      Conducting risk assessment and management

·      Understanding corporate incident response

 

In addition, travel funding is available for selected SSR-2 Review Team members.

Dear All,

 

ICANN announced an extension of the application deadline for participation in the community-based team that will review the security, stability, and resiliency of the DNS. Experts in Internet unique identifiers, including; mitigating unique identifier abuse, registry and registration security and abuse, understanding of malware mitigations and abuse vectors, and incident response are highly desired. Geographic diversity will be taken into account when selecting SSR2 review team members.

 

The new deadline for submitting your application is 15 September 2016 at 23:59 UTC.

As part of its Affirmation of Commitments (AoC) requirements, ICANN is seeking applicants to serve on the Second Security, Stability, and Resiliency of the DNS (SSR2) Review Team as a volunteer member.

Candidates are asked to submit their applications to reviews@icann.org by 15 August 2016, 23:59 UTC.

 

SSR2 Review - How to Apply?

 

Interested individuals are invited to provide the following:

&#8226                       A resume (maximum three pages), detailing relevant work and/or academic experience, as well as subject matter knowledge;

&#8226                       A letter of motivation detailing your interest in serving on the Review Team and what you will bring to the team. Please include any experience participating in previous ICANN reviews;

&#8226                       A Statement of Interest;

&#8226                       Specify the Supporting Organization or Advisory Committee with which you are affiliated;

More information on the scope of, and expertise expected of volunteers to serve on this Review Team is specified in the Call for Volunteers: https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-3-2016-06-30-en   This call is intended for individuals interested in applying for a position of Review Team Member, in representation of a Supporting Organization (S0) or Advisory Committee (AC), or as an independent expert. 

  

ICANN has recently adopted new Bylaws that are not yet effective that introduce new selection processes for AoC review teams. Accordingly, this Call for Volunteers, as well as the timelines described below, may be updated by ICANN during this application period to reflect these new procedures, if and when they become effective. We will keep you updated as needed.

 

The key dates to keep in mind are:

&#8226                       Call for volunteers published – 30 June 2016

&#8226                       Deadline to apply for Review Team- 15 August 2016

&#8226                       Publication of Applicants - 15 September 2016

&#8226                       Review Team selected and announced- November 2016

&#8226                       1st Review Team meeting- December 2016

&#8226                       Final report issued - estimated December 2017
