Topic: Draft PTI and IANA FY20 Operating Plan and Budgets

Summary:

Focusing on ICANN's commitment to the multistakeholder model, ICANN Organization seeks public comment on the operating plan and budgets for delivering the IANA functions. This is comprised of two components — the Draft FY20 Public Technical Identifiers (PTI) Operating Plan and Budget and the Draft FY20 IANA Operating Plan and Budget. The PTI Operating Plan and Budget outlines the activities to deliver the core IANA functions and associated operational activities to enhance systems and processes. The IANA Operating Plan and Budget is comprised of these PTI activities, plus additional programs and costs associated with overseeing and delivering the IANA functions performed by ICANN in its role as the IANA Functions Operator that are not borne directly by PTI.

Topic: Registration Open for ICANN Academy 2019 Leadership Program

Summary:

ICANN has issued a call for nominations for the 2019 Leadership Program, to be held 7–8 March in Kobe, Japan, just prior to ICANN64. The program helps current and incoming leaders to better understand the complexities of ICANN and to develop facilitation skills. Interested individuals need to be endorsed by their Supporting Organization, Advisory Committee, or stakeholder group.

The registration deadline is Thursday, 8 November 2018, 23:59 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The registration form can be found here [docs.google.com]. The Leadership Program does not provide financial support for travel to Kobe, but does cover accommodations and offer a stipend for the days of the program.

Topic: Proposal for Sinhala Script Root Zone Label Generation Rules

Summary:

The Sinhala script community has formed the Sinhala script Generation Panel (GP), which in turn has developed a Proposal for the Sinhala Script Root Zone Label Generation Rules (Proposal [icann.org] [XML, 17 KB] and Supporting Documentation [icann.org] [PDF, 1.8 MB]). As per the LGR Procedure [icann.org] [PDF, 772 KB], this proposal is being posted for public comment to allow those who have not participated in the Sinhala script GP to make their views known. The Sinhala Script Root Zone Label Generation Rules (LGR) follow the posting of eight related Neo-Brahmi Scripts' LGR proposals, which have been published in three sets. The first [icann.org] set includes Devanagari, Gujarati and Gurmukhi scripts' LGRs, the second [icann.org] set includes Kannada, Telugu, and Oriya scripts' LGRs and the third [icann.org] set includes Malayalam and Tamil scripts' LGRs. Overlapping the comment periods of these LGRs of related scripts, to the extent possible, will allow the community to consider these proposals in the context of each other. Based on the feedback, the Sinhala script GP will finalize the proposal for submission for integration into the Label Generation Rules for the Root Zone (RZ-LGR).

Topic: Initial Report of the New gTLD Auction Proceeds Cross-Community Working Group

Summary:

This public comment proceeding seeks to obtain input on the Initial Report of the New generic Top Level Domain (gTLD) Auction Proceeds Cross-Community Working Group (CCWG). The CCWG is tasked with providing guidance on a framework to disburse the funds generated from auctions of last resort in 2012 application round of the new gTLD Program. According to the CCWG's charter, the objective of the group is to develop a proposal(s) for consideration by the chartering organizations: Address Supporting Organization (ASO), the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC), the Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO), the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO), the Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC), the Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC), and the Root Server System Advisory Committee (RSSAC).
