Hello everyone,
The following topic proposal by the ccNSO was just submitted to the Board operations team:
Topic: Changes necessary to sustain ICANN’s model.
Background:
·
Considering that travel restrictions may last for several years, what would need to change in the board, the staff and the various SOs and ACs?
·
Even when international travel becomes possible again, should one or more of the ICANN meetings remain virtual to
i. reduce carbon emissions, and
ii. improve accessibility and participation as time/expense to travel to a physical meeting?
Best regards.

Dear Colleagues,
Thank you! I see that there is support for Jordan’s suggestion. I tried to re-write it a little for submission to the Board.
Topic: Changes necessary to sustain ICANN’s model
Questions for discussion:
I believe that to some extent it also covers Barrack’s suggestion.
Does this look ok? Please feel free to edit/suggest!
Thank you!

Yes, and a variation on that: even when international travel becomes possible again, should one or more of the ICANN meetings remain virtual to i) reduce carbon emissions and ii) improve accessibility and participation as time/ expense
to travel to a physical meeting is more difficult for community members who have childcare or economic constraints.

Thanks Katrina
How about something like
“How does the ICANN system work sustainably if we can’t have any in-person meetings for several years - what would need to change in the board, the staff and the various SOs and ACs?”
I find this interesting because it’s a sort of resilience test... maybe just me tho

Dear Colleagues,
This is a friendly reminder that we need to come up with a topic for discussion with the Board during our bilateral meeting.
Please note, we do not need to come up with questions – the Board asked us to choose one topic we could discuss half of the time.
For the other half, the Board has chosen the following topic:
- Enhancing the effectiveness of the Multistakeholder model: key issues and opportunities for acceleration. In your preparation you may want to consider the results of the most recent public consultation, and work that has progressed with dependencies to enhancing the effectiveness of the MSM (such as the ATRT3 report and work on prioritization and budgeting).
Please share your suggestions and support for the suggestions shared with the list so that we can determine the winner (topic, I mean).
Kind regards,
]{atrina
