Dear Colleagues,

I read the Enhancing the Effectiveness of ICANN’s Multistakeholder Model – Next Steps (https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/enhancing-effectiveness-multistakeholder-model-next-steps-04jun20-en.pdf) but, unfortunately, I am not able to produce any drafts. I have mixed feelings about the plan and, frankly, I remain rather sceptical about the approach. There is an attempt to divide the issues into smaller (more manageable) chunks but those chunks are still too big to swallow. I hope that, when implemented, recommendations from ATRT3 would bring a lot of improvements. I really have no idea what we could say at this stage. If anyone has any suggestions, please, speak up now – if we want to submit comments, we should do it by 2 August.

The best way forward for the ccNSO that I see, is to work on ourselves to make sure that we are effective and efficient. I believe we’ve done a lot in that area with still a long way to go – something for the upcoming Council workshop (one of the topics we need to discuss, as you remember, is Jordan’s ideas to rebuild ccNSO PDP to make it more efficient). Even though working in silos has been identified as one of the ICANN’s biggest issues, I do not think it is possible to fix anything at a global ICANN level if silos remain in a mess (no, we’re not in a mess – it’s just a figure of speech to provide a dramatic effect).

Please do not hesitate to share your views and suggestions regarding the document!

Please also do not forget to comment on the draft regarding ATRT3 Final report I sent in my previous email!

Kind regards,
