Dear Councillors,

With the discussions around the past few applications, I’ve realised that there are some misunderstandings about the process. Let me clarify how we process membership applications:

1. The applications are received by the ccNSO Secretariat

2. The ccNSO Secretariat preforms the following checks:

a. Is application submitted by the ccTLD Manager? If yes, proceed with the next check.

b. Are there any discrepancies with the IANA db? If yes, ask the ccTLD Manager to clarify. If not, proceed.

3. The ccNSO Secretariat informs the PTI staff, who check their database and inform the ccNSO Secretariat of any outstanding issues. If there are any, the application is denied. If not, proceed.

4. When all the checks are complete, information is sent to the Councillor who is responsible for ccNSO Membership Application oversight, who then checks all the checks performed and forward the application to the Council for the final approval.

Please note:

1. no application goes to the Council un-checked.

2. the Council does not receive failed applications.

I'm not sure if it is our [the ccNSO council] "concern" to look for the accuracy of the IANA database or if this is something that should stop the ccNSO membership. 🤔

What they have on their official website is the same as the IANA 🤔:

Should we request them to update their information "everywhere" to avoid confusion? 🤔 It is confusing... 

Shouldn't IANA look into this?

Please note that the address provided in the membership application is different than what has been included in the IANA database.  The ccTLD Manager provided the following explanation:

“Regarding the difference between the two addresses; CITRA does have three headquarters. The address in IANA database is valid and belongs to one of CITRA HQs. By the time when we updated the IANA information, the .KW team was based in the address stated in IANA DB. However, The team has moved to the address specified in the ccNSO                             application. We can still keep and use the address in IANA DB but we do prefer to use the one in ccNSO application to avoid delays due to redirections.”
