Dear ccNSO Councillors,
The call for volunteers for a ccNSO appointed delegate to the FY2021 ICANN Nominating Committee (NomCom) closed yesterday, 9 June 2020, 23:59 UTC. The ccNSO secretariat is now initiating the selection process. As per
the ICANN Bylaws, the ccNSO Council should appoint one representative. Those Councillors eligible to vote are expected to review the applications and select members based on how well the candidates meet the set of requirements.
The deadline for this is Wednesday, 17 June 2020 (23:59 UTC).
An email will be sent on 10 June 2020 (by 23:59 UTC)
to the individual email addresses of the members of the ccNSO Council eligible to vote, with in attachment the application material as submitted by the 3 candidates.
The 3 candidates, in alphabetical order:
Juhani Juselius (.fi) | EU region
Eberhard Lisse (.na) | AF region
Biyi Oladipo (.ng) | AF region

A kind reminder that the ccNSO Secretariat will track and publish for each council member its participation in an election process.
Based on each of the individual Councillor’s rankings, the Secretariat will prepare the overall ranking of all candidates and report the ranking to the ccNSO Council on Thursday, 18 June 2020. The ccNSO Council chair will
inform relevant ICANN staff latest on Friday, 19 June 2020 of the ccNSO appointed member to the NomCom.

Selection Process
After closure of the call for volunteers, the materials submitted will be sent to the ccNSO Councillors eligible to select the
members of the NomCom. Based on each of the individual Councillor’s rankings, the Secretariat will prepare the overall ranking of all candidates and report the ranking to the ccNSO Council on Thursday, 18 June
2020. The ccNSO Council chair will inform relevant ICANN staff latest on Friday, 19 June 2020 of the ccNSO appointed member to the NomCom.
Candidate qualification requirements
As per the ICANN bylaws, the ccNSO Council should appoint one (1) representative. The Councillors eligible to vote will review the applications and select members based on how well the candidates meet the set of candidate requirements listed below:

As per Section
8.4 of the ICANN Bylaws [icann.org], delegates to the ICANN Nominating Committee shall be:
a. Accomplished persons of integrity, objectivity, and intelligence, with reputations for sound judgment and open minds, and with experience and competence with collegial large group decision-making;
b. Persons with wide contacts, broad experience in the Internet community, and a commitment to the success of ICANN;
c. Persons who will consult widely and accept input in carrying out their responsibilities;
d. Persons who are neutral and objective, without any fixed personal commitments to particular individuals, organizations, or commercial objectives in carrying out their Nominating Committee responsibilities;
e. Persons with an understanding of ICANN's mission and the potential impact of ICANN's activities on the broader Internet community who are willing to serve as volunteers, without compensation other than the reimbursement
of certain expenses; and
f. Persons who are able to work and communicate in written and spoken English.
Kindly note that the
applicable guideline [ccnso.icann.org] refers to the need for a nomination, followed by a secondment by another ccNSO member. This requirement has not been included in the call for volunteers, and will not be applied for this round, nor has it been applied
in previous rounds over the past years.
