FYI – The GNSO are also considering the same letter for input to revisions of the IDN implementation guidelines. They are also considering
whether the 30 January is sufficient and if they should gather assistance from the GNSO community (eg volunteer group).
If you’d like further updates on GNSO progress on this issue, let me know.
Regards
Patrick

Subject: [ccnso-council] FW: IDN Implementation Guidelines
Dear all,
Following up from Byron’s remarks during the AOB part of the meeting, please find included the email and letter he received from Akram Atllah regarding the revision
of the IDN Implementation Guidelines.
As Byron indicated the proposed action is to invite IDN ccTLD to participate in this effort, by forwarding the letter to them and inviting them to respond directly
to ICANN.
In the past some ccTLDs with a interest in IDNs have participated in the work to develop the Guidelines.
If you any issues to the proposed way forward, you are kindly requested to respond on the Council list by Wednesday 17 December 17.00 UTC,
Kind regards,
Bart

Subject: IDN Implementation Guidelines
Dear Byron,
In the ICANN 50 meeting, the GNSO council and members met with the Board Variant Working Group (BV-WG) and suggested to update the IDN Implementation Guidelines, the last revision was in 2011.
Based on follow up discussions, during the ICANN 51 meeting the BV-WG directed the staff to reach out to the GNSO and ccNSO to collect an initial list of issues which should be addressed if this
update is undertaken. This request is outlined in the attached letter.
Thank you for your support in this matter.
