About the IFR
The IFR is an accountability mechanism required by ICANN’s Bylaws to ensure that Public Technical Identifiers (PTI) meets the needs and expectations
of its naming customers. The IFR team is mandated to review PTI's performance of the IANA naming function against the requirements set forth in the IANA Naming Function Contract and the IANA Naming Function Statement of Work. An important distinction is that
the IFR is not an ICANN Organizational or Specific review, and it is not a replacement for the work of the Customer Standing Committee (CSC).
Composition of the review team
According to the ICANN Bylaws the ccNSO Council is expected to appoint
three (3) of the 15 representatives and liaisons. These three ccNSO appointed representatives are expected to be associated with
ccTLD Managers. The ccTLD Manager is not required
to be a ccNSO member.
One of the ccNSO appointed representatives is also expected to be one of the co-chairs.
Further details, for example on the candidate requirements, will be included in the call for expression of interest and can be found in section 18 of
the ICANN Bylaws (https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/governance/bylaws-en/#article18)
Next Steps
The ccNSO secretariat will send out a call for Expression of Interest (EoI). Based on the EoI the ccNSO Council will then select the 3 candidates (in
accordance with section 6.1 and 8 of the relevant ccNSO Guideline
https://ccnso.icann.org/sites/default/files/field-attached/guidelines-ccnso-appointees-version-1-procedures-22mar21-en.pdf [ccnso.icann.org]). ICANN org will be informed accordingly of the ccNSO appointment. .
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Claudia Ruiz
