‘Qantas also said the 747-400 was not the one that was used to fly Pope Benedict XVI out of Australia earlier this month after his visit to Sydney.’

Thank f*** for that. I just feel so much better knowing this. Had it been the same plane I would have been forced to re-examine my whole belief system. I mean how spooky would it have been….The Holy Father one week, the Holey Plane the next….

Hi,

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/07/25/2314706.htm

I'm fine. It wasn't very pleasant but on the other hand I'm more than a little relieved that it was Qantas. They handled everything superbly. It was pretty clear within 30 seconds or so that the pilot still had control of the plane and the cabin crew were magnificent. May never see my bags again of course but that can happen on a flight from London to Manchester!!

I think I may still be a little high from the amount of pure oxygen I have breathed;-) However the glass of cabernet merlot currently sitting here in front of me is slipping down well. In fact, it's time for another one.

Anyway.. apparently we will be leaving on a replacement plane later tonight all being well.

If you zoom in on the photo attached you'll get some idea of the damage.

Cheers,
